Description What it is

SN-PROTECT 2K is a premium acrylic-cementitious, polymer-modified elastomeric waterproofing and protective coating. Formulated with high-quality Portland cement, carefully graded aggregates, performance additives, and an advanced acrylic emulsion polymer binder, it delivers durable waterproofing and long-term protection for concrete and masonry substrates.

Compliance Standards
  • Compliance for use in drinking water reservoirs/tanks (potability test reference as stated in the data sheet).
  • Surface Spread of Flame test: BS 476: Pt. 7:71 (Class 1).
  • CFTRI certified as a “potable water safe” coating for waterproofing for water tanks.
Fields of Application Where to use

Designed as an effective waterproofing membrane on a variety of substrates. Applications include:

  • Internal waterproofing of water tanks, sumps, reservoirs, planter boxes prior to tiling/final finishes.
  • Sandwich waterproofing systems for terraces, balconies, kitchens, toilets to prevent water ingress.
  • Protective treatment of bridge and flyover decks beneath the wearing course to safeguard concrete from rainwater penetration.
Features & Benefits Performance
  • Elastomeric: flexible coating accommodates cracks up to 2 mm with elasticity 40–50%.
  • Low water permeability: excellent resistance to ingress of water.
  • Adhesion: excellent adhesion to concrete and masonry surfaces.
  • Eco-friendly: non-toxic with low VOC content.
  • Potable-water safe: certified for waterproofing water tanks.

Surface Preparation Critical step

Correct substrate preparation is critical for optimum performance.

  • Surface must be structurally sound, clean, and free from loose particles, oil, grease, or contaminants.
  • Remove cement laitance, mold release agents, curing membranes, etc. by wet grit blasting or high-pressure water jetting (~150 bar), or other effective methods.
  • Fill irregularities (blowholes, honeycombs) using suitable repair mortars to achieve a smooth, level surface.
  • Saturate the prepared substrate with clean water before applying SN-PROTECT 2K.
Mixing Mechanical mixing

Mechanical mixing is necessary. Use a slow speed (~600 rpm) heavy-duty drill with a wing-type paddle.

  1. Place approximately 75% of Part A into a clean pail.
  2. Keeping the mixer running, add Part B slowly.
  3. Mix for at least 3 minutes to obtain a lump-free homogeneous mix.
  4. While continuing to mix, add the remaining Part A (for horizontal surfaces), or only part of it (for vertical surfaces) until required consistency is achieved.
Note: Avoid using part packs. Use only mix of complete pack.
Placing Site control
  • Protect the application area from direct sunlight and strong airflow.
  • Ensure controlled curing and prevent premature drying of the coating.
Sprayer note: Worm-gear type sprayers typically do not have a mixing arrangement—mix material separately and feed to the spraying machine.
Curing Prevent rapid drying

Slow drying ensures homogeneous curing and high waterproofing characteristics.

  • Protect SN-PROTECT 2K against rapid drying due to high temperatures or wind.
  • Curing by wet burlap, polyethylene sheet, or a curing compound (e.g., MASTERKURE 181) is recommended.

Cleaning Tools
  • Clean tools and equipment with water before the waterproofing coating hardens.
  • For detailed Health, Safety and Environmental recommendations, consult the product Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS).
Estimating Data Coverage
ItemRecommendationNotes
Coverage per coat ~ 1 kg/m² per coat Approx. wet film thickness 0.8 mm (±0.08 mm)
Two-coat system ~ 2 kg/m² total Approx. total dry film thickness 1.0 mm (±0.1 mm)
Coverage note: Actual coverage depends on application method and surface texture/porosity.
Notes & Disclaimer Important
Important: Protect the system from premature drying (wind/heat). Always follow correct mixing and curing practices. For safety guidance, consult the SDS/MSDS before use.
Important Notice: The information given in this data sheet is to the best of our knowledge true and accurate; however, since conditions of use are beyond our control, no warranties (express or implied) are given regarding product use or performance. Trial on a small area is recommended before large scale application.
